It is now possible to type in a search term to find a relevant video or audio broadcast. But how do you get people to engage properly with your broadcast, particularly if it is more than a few minutes long? You need to be able to direct them to the part of the programme that is most relevant to them quickly and accurately.
For readers this is quite simple. Even without technology it is usually quite obvious to the reader what is in a text document. After all, adults can skim a document at the rate of 700+ words a minute (that is the equivalent of an entire paperback book in less than two hours). Let’s take the example of a training manual. Most will have an index, and if electronic, an extensive set of bookmarks to enable the reader to find just the right point to start reading about a particular subject.
But when it comes to audio and video content things become a little more complex. The viewer or listener must watch or listen in real time to extract meaning, with no obvious short-cuts. Trying to add “bookmarks” to audio is a comparatively painful process, not only requiring video and audio editing skills, but also a great deal of time and patience. And, if you look at audio and video content that is currently freely available on the web, you’ll see that, in general, no attempt is made to help you access the data in a broadcast without having to listen to it all.
JUMPTO changes this. It presents video and audio content in a way that makes it just as useful, referenceable, and searchable as the printed page.
Now any corporate video or call, be it a training video, a conference broadcast or an earnings call, can be uploaded and, within minutes, have a fully featured set of bookmarks showing what is in the video or audio, enabling the user to go straight to the relevant content. What’s more, the bookmarks can be linked with search technology to enable other relevant content to be shown alongside the broadcast.
JUMPTO can aggregate these bookmarks, to enable a user to select one bookmark, and be presented with all of the other broadcasts that contain related information. Powerful editing tools mean bookmarks can be amended or deleted as necessary.
